1. Who we are
KizoMinds ("we", "us", "our") is an educational quiz application designed to help children (LKG through Grade 10+) learn through daily quizzes.
The app is operated by Ram Prasad KM, based in Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh, India.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect the information of users — particularly children — when they use the KizoMinds mobile and web applications.
2. What information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Student's first name — used to personalise greetings inside the app.
- Grade / class level — used to deliver age-appropriate questions.
- Avatar selection — a chosen emoji-based avatar (not a real photo).
- School code (optional) — if the student joins via a partner school.
- Parent's email and/or mobile number (optional, only on sign-up flow) — used for account recovery and progress updates. We do not send marketing emails.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier — an anonymous ID used to restore the child's progress if the app is reinstalled.
- Anonymous Firebase Auth ID — a randomly generated identifier; not linked to any personal account.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token — used to send the child their daily reminder notifications.
- Gameplay statistics — quiz scores, streaks, time spent, level progress.
- Crash reports & basic diagnostics — anonymous, used to fix bugs.
What we DO NOT collect:
No photos, no precise location, no contacts, no microphone audio, no payment information, no behavioural advertising profiles, no biometric data.
3. How we use the information
- To deliver age-appropriate quiz questions to your child.
- To save their progress, points, streaks, and unlocked levels.
- To send daily reminder notifications (only if enabled in device settings).
- To restore the child's account on a new device using the parent's email/mobile (if previously provided).
- To improve the app — anonymous usage patterns inform our content design.
- To enforce safety — e.g. daily play limits configured by partner schools.
We do not use children's information for targeted advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond providing the educational service.
4. Children's privacy (COPPA, GDPR-K, DPDP Act 2023)
KizoMinds is designed primarily for children aged 5–14. We are committed to complying with:
- U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
- EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — Article 8 (children)
- Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India)
- Google Play Families Policy
Parental controls
A child under 13 (or under 18 in India under the DPDP Act) can use the app without providing any personal information beyond a first name and avatar. The optional parent email / mobile field on the sign-up screen is intended to be filled in by a parent or guardian.
No third-party advertising
KizoMinds contains no third-party advertisements, no behavioural ad networks, and no in-app purchases.
Parental rights
Parents/guardians may at any time:
- Review the personal information collected about their child.
- Request that we delete their child's information.
- Refuse to allow further collection or use of their child's information.
Send requests to ai.enthusiastic3@gmail.com — we respond within 7 business days.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with the following service providers, who are contractually bound to protect it:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Messaging, Hosting) — for storing and syncing your child's progress. Google Cloud is certified under ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, SOC 1/2/3, and is COPPA-compliant.
- Partner schools — if a school code is used, only that school's authorised admin can see the student's aggregated progress (name, grade, points). Schools do not see contact information, device IDs, or any other personal data.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not share data with social networks.
We may disclose information if required by law (court order, legal process) — but only the minimum required.
6. Data security
- All data is transmitted using TLS 1.2+ encryption.
- Stored on Google Firebase servers, which are protected by Google's industry-leading security infrastructure.
- Access to production data is restricted to authorised KizoMinds team members and protected by Firebase IAM + multi-factor authentication.
- Firestore security rules enforce that a user can only read/write their own data.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We work continuously to improve security, but cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as it is needed:
- Active accounts — for as long as the account is active.
- Inactive accounts (no activity for 24 consecutive months) — automatically deleted.
- On parent/guardian request — deleted within 30 days of the request.
- Aggregated, anonymised statistics (no personal info) may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.
8. Your rights & choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about your child.
- Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
- Deletion — request that all personal data be deleted.
- Withdraw consent — stop the collection and processing of personal data at any time.
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format (JSON).
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ai.enthusiastic3@gmail.com.
9. Cookies & analytics
Our mobile app does not use cookies. The admin web panel (used only by partner schools and administrators) uses essential cookies for sign-in sessions — no advertising cookies.
We use Firebase Analytics in anonymised mode to understand how the app is used. Analytics data is aggregated and cannot be linked back to a specific child.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we add new features or when laws change. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Effective" date at the top of this page.
- Notify users through the app (in-app banner) for material changes.
- Where required, request fresh consent from parents/guardians.
